A perfect weekend wandering in the Northeast....

I just arrived home Monday from, hands-down, the best trip I've ever been on. I spent a few days visiting in a friend in Boston, then together we headed to NYC by bus (Bolt bus is fabulous!) for the weekend to visit another friend. The three of us are great travel buddies. We're all flexible and love to wander and just see where the day takes us.

A few food highlights in Boston: Chacarero, a Chilean sandwich shop that is just so mouthwateringly good. Who knew green beans could have a welcome and tasty place on a sandwich? Also, we had a lovely dinner at Orinoco. I had the Mechada Empanadas--they were perfectly cooked with a salad that was so balanced in flavor. Add the sangria that I sipped and the amount of laughing we did at the table, and you have my picture of heaven.

In NYC, we spent most of our time in Brooklyn, where my college roommate just moved. She has an amazingly huge (in NYC standards) apartment near Prospect Park. We explored her new neighborhood and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Saturday evening, we had to find somewhere to watch the Sox game, so we headed over to the Dram Shop, where we met many Sox fans and fell in love with this little bar. The next morning, we walked a ways to the Brooklyn Flea Market. Wow! I still can't believe how fabulous this was. If I lived in NY, I'd be there every Sunday. On our way home from the flea market, we stopped in a little cafe, Prospect Perk, and sat for a couple of hours and downed warm coffee, soup and sandwiches.

All in all, the perfect weekend with friends.

Recent Creations

My stack of projects is this high (it's just too bad I talk with my hands--not very conducive to blogging). Here are a few things I've finished lately:

This is from Amy Butler's book--I just added handles.

This was inspired by the August 2007 Martha Stewart Living article, "Linear Thinking." This tote inspired me to put polka dots on the bottom of an old coat. Sadly, it's been hitting 100 degrees almost everyday here in Atlanta...so it's going to be a while before I get to wear this heavy of a coat.

Getting Started

After a recent discovery of young (and young at heart), crafty, blogging extraordinaires in the world, I have been inspired to keep creating and to blog it all. It's amazing to have a community of creators. I figured it was about time I played my part in the creation. I have been so motivated by you that I need to reciprocate and possibly give something for someone out there to be inspired by.

A little about me:
I'm a college student (almost finished!) who loves to make purses for friends, embroider, cook, entertain, work with kids, and sleep (as any good college student does). I love to travel--I just spent a semester in the UK and just got back from a 2-week stay in South Korea. I love to try new foods and explore different customs while sharing my homegrown Southern hospitality and cooking with my new friends.

So, here we go!

P.S. Meet Ben, my hilarious dog!
